Former Patient at Northern RiverviewI had gotten into an accident, which really messed me up. I was in a wheelchair, unable to put any weight on my left leg, and my left arm was in a cast. Not only that but I was experiencing short-term memory loss. I couldn’t remember names of sports figures or the lyrics to popular songs. What’s so great about the rehab therapy at Northern Riverview is that they treated the whole me—physically, mentally and emotionally. I had zero motivation when I was admitted, but the therapists made sure I got moving. They worked with me and encouraged me almost every day. I was constantly updating my family: “I can walk now.” “I can move my hand.” And all thanks to the Northern Riverview team. They are amazing!

Resident at Northern RiverviewI came in feeling very disorientated and weak. I needed extra assistance in doing everyday activities. My doctors said I had significant comorbidities: obstructive sleep apnea, heart failure, and hypertension. The Northern Riverview team warmly welcomed me and were all so nice to me. I improved my endurance and ability to walk with a walker. Also, they made sure I received my medication on time, which was very helpful. Thank you, Northern Riverview. I will recommend this facility to my friends and family. Everyone was very accommodating.

Resident at Northern RiverviewDue to my hip surgery, getting out of bed and walking was very difficult. I had intense pain. My doctors said I had hypertension, too. The nursing and rehab staff in Northern Riverview were accommodating and very friendly. After my stay, I finally felt back to my normal self. Everyone was very kind. Thank you, Northern Riverview. I would definitely recommend this facility. I left being able to walk again.

Patient at Northern RiverviewI had a bad cough, a fever with chills, rapid breathing and chest pain. I was so weak, I could barely move. My doctor said I had severe pneumonia and recommended that I go to Northern Manor to recover and regain my strength. The Northern Manor team immediately made me feel comfortable. They were responsible, respectful, and very attentive to all my needs. They were very friendly, too. The medical staff coordinated with my doctor in order to ensure I was getting the proper medication, and the therapists created a personalized rehab plan, which included exercises for my upper and lower extremities to help me regain strength and balance. Before long, I was breathing normally without pain and I was walking on my own. The team at Northern Manor is great; they were just what the doctor ordered!

Patient at Northern Riverview"Talking with family and friends has always been one of my greatest pleasures. But then I had the stroke, which robbed me of that singular joy. It took away my ability to speak; now I have aphasia—which means I have trouble speaking, but I can understand what people say. The Northern Manor team made me a promise, if I worked hard, they ‘d work hard, too, to help me get my powers of speech back. Right away, the Recreation department set me up on Facetime, so I could see and communicate with my family. And the rehab team has been fantastic—cool and very supportive. My family is really happy to see how strong I’m getting. Soon I’ll be receiving a device to help me speak. I can’t wait. I’ll be able to head home and start talking again. The first thing I’ll say is: Thank you, Northern Manor."

Patient at Northern Riverview"Where to begin? I have diabetes, I had an infection in my left foot, had just gone through gall bladder surgery, and my knees were so weak, I could barely stand. I needed a lot of help! The team at Northern Manor met the challenge with flying colors. First thing, they made me comfortable, making certain that all my needs were met. The physical therapy was outstanding, and I looked forward to all the activities offered by the Recreation Department. Also, because of my condition, I had lost a great deal of weight. I’m Filipino, and they went out of their way to prepare Filipino food for me! I’ve gained weight, my muscles are stronger, and I have regular video chats with my daughter, thanks to the tablet they provided for me. The Northern Manor team gave me all the tender loving care I needed!"

Resident at Northern RiverviewI had a debilitating stroke, and when it came time to leave the hospital, I couldn’t walk and I could barely talk. My niece did some research, and she heard very good things about the stroke rehab program at Northern Riverview. Her research proved to be spot-on. The staff was so friendly, and a social worker came to talk to me about my condition, my goals and what my time at the facility would be like. I want to give a special shout-out to the speech therapist, Lauren. What an angel! She made a great contribution to my successful recovery. Not only has my speech improved, but so too has my health and my attitude. I have no question that I’ll be walking again soon. My whole experience at Northern Riverview—from the therapists to the food—has been a positive one. If you need to rehab, go to Northern Riverview!

Resident at Northern RiverviewI died. That’s what the doctors told me. Here’s what happened. I had dinner with my family, I watched a little television, then I went to bed. A night like any other night. The only thing that was different was that the following morning, I didn’t wake up. My husband called 911. When I woke up in the hospital, I had a trach. They said I had stopped breathing. The hospital saved my life, but it didn’t seem like I had much of a life. I felt like a burden. Northern Manor took me in and changed that feeling. They brought me back to myself. The staff was so attentive to my needs—both medical and personal. Without their kindness and care and encouragement, I doubt I would be here today. It would have been very easy for me to feel alienated and alone, to slip into depression, but the people at Northern Manor wouldn’t allow it. There are new activities every day, opportunities to socialize, and I never felt alone. It’s a place that gives me hope, to look forward to the next day, the next moment, and the next thing in my life. Thanks to Northern Manor, for me every day is a blessing. I can rest easy.
